In my freshman year at FIU I had a once in a lifetime opportunity to join Students on Ice and travel to the bottom of the world, also known as Antarctica. The journey started by flying from Miami to Buenos Aires, Argentina then to Ushuia, Argentina and then finally boarding a ship that would be our home for the next two weeks as we sailed through the Antarctic Peninsula. I was able to learn first hand about the wildlife that inhabits the area as well as see the effects of global warming through scientific studies performed.
